Through the centuries, the birth of the Christ child has inspired composers to commemorate and celebrate that glorious event. The Colorado Chorale shares in that rich musical expression through a melding of voice and brass that elicits wonder, inspiration, and delight. We open our concert with Z. Randall Stroop's Hodie (This Day) proclaiming Christ's birth. A diverse selection of music centering on birth of the Christ child will close with John Rutter's introspective and jubilant Gloria.

Paul
Bethany Lutheran Church
Saturday, March 15, 2008 7:30 pm

"I have fought the good fight." And indeed Paul of Tarsus did. Instrumental in building the early Christian church, he preached, taught and was imprisoned for his beliefs. Paul's life has inspired countless composers over centuries, and the Chorale will share some of the superb music written about this humble man. Featuring Paul of Tarsus composed by Colorado's very own Cecil Effinger, we will explore the man who declared, "I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

The season closes with a look at the spirited matchmaker Dolly Levi. It is 1890s New York and Dolly Levi is creating matches for all who cross her path. Now it's her turn. Long time widow Dolly has set her sights on Horace Vandergelder, a grumpy, tight-fisted store owner. In the course of convincing Horace of his affection for her, she manipulates matches and the ensuing escapade culminates in couples all around.
