PROFILES OF NOTE is the title for the Colorado Chorale’s 38th season. A dictionary describes the word “profile” as being a side view of an object—an outline or silhouette; or a degree of exposure; or a brief biographical essay. A synonym finder expands those explanations to include form, contour, line, analysis, review, portrait, survey and several others. So where does that leave us with a meaning to describe our season? Is it a portrait of the men and women caught up in war who are writing to their loved ones at home? Is it a picture of the babe in a manger surrounded by angels and kings and shepherds
and animals and parents? Is it the portrait of a man caught up in the persecution of the followers of an obscure holy man in an out-of-the way hole in the Roman Empire—of his conversion and subsequent work to found a religion embraced throughout the modern world? Is it a fun-filled vignette about a controlling woman bent on reshaping her world and the world of the people around her? (And doing it all in song and dance) Maybe, instead, these profiles are of the Colorado Chorale itself—thirty-eight years old—still vital—still healthy. Perhaps these profiles are of the people who make up the Colorado Chorale—lawyers, engineers, electricians, computer specialists, custodians, doctors, nurses, teachers, carpenters, business people, architects, ministers, and others forming a list too long to view here. Well, the fact of the matter is that our Profiles of Note are all of these possibilities, and they have one unifying element—one feature that ties them together—Music. Voices and instruments—melodies and harmonies and rhythms to paint every sort of profile that you could possibly imagine. As an audience member for our concerts, we invite you into these profiles. You bring to the picture your understanding and emotion—your appreciation and enjoyment. Welcome to Profiles of Note. Welcome to the Colorado Chorale’s 38th season.
