DENVER, CO – On Sunday, May 6 at 4:00PM, The Colorado Chorale presents a concert featuring a quintessential program of Monsignor Don Lorenzo Perosi: a figure often forgotten, despite his role among the greatest operatic composers of his time. Revered by musicians across Europe, famous operatic composer Giacomo Puccini once said, “There’s more music in Perosi’s head than in mine and Mascagni’s put together.” According to Colorado Chorale Artistic Director and Conductor, Kevin T. Padworski, “Monsignor Perosi held two of the most esteemed positions in European choral history, impressed and received adoration and accolades of his colleagues across Europe, was an active priest, and created many lifetimes worth of music.” The concert, perfect for choral music aficionados and casual fans alike, is a rare opportunity to hear this repertoire performed live, in an unrivaled setting and with first-class accompaniment.

The Chorale will perform the Missa Benedicamus Domino, a Magnificat, and several other pieces highlighting the diversity of his repertoire. Esteemed local organist, Dr. Cindy Lindeen-Martin will perform with the Chorale on Augustana’s well-known instrument, shaping an authentic program, honoring what the original music would have sounded like.

Before the performance, Maestro Kevin Padworski will illuminate Perosi’s work with a pre-concert lecture at 3:15, followed by a short break before the performance.

Tickets: $20 for adults; $15 for seniors; $15 for groups of 5 or more; youth up to 21 are free.
